Overview
Many people like to read books in different formats, but they don't have a way to keep their progress in their books in the same place.
Smart Marks is the solution to that problem with a physical product and an app that tracks your location in a book across physical, e-book and audiobook formats. With this design, users would be able to keep their place in a book no matter where they are and what the circumstances may be.
Who will use Smart Marks?
This design was focused around a variety of personas. We chose to design for a marketing manager, college student and a designer. These personas all had different backgrounds, and we needed to make sure we designed with each of these people in mind.
Insights:
People like to read across different formats, but don't have a way to stay in the same place.
E-books are usually the most convenient way to access books, even if it's not the preferred format.
Some users would like to switch to an audiobook version when they aren't able to read books.
